Digg's Comment System

I just wanted to spew out a quick little rant here.

Digg's comment system: Sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. For those that don't know, Digg's comment system allows users to digg and bury comments (much like the stories posted on the site). So basically what happens is someone posts a comment, and if you like what they said you can digg it (+1 vote) or bury it (-1 vote). If the comment gets buried too much, then it will be hidden.

Here's the thing. When I'm actively digging or burying comments, I love it. When I'm just casually reading through a thread of comments, I hate it. On websites that don't have this feature, I sometimes feel the urge to digg or bury a comment and not being able to annoys me. But I also love not being distracted by it when I'm simply reading a thread.

So sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. But ultimately, I find myself disliking it more than liking it.

Maybe staring at Kevin's MacBook on Diggnation every week has finally triggered something in my brain (I was actually watching Diggnation while typing this).
