Who Writes this Drivel?

  • Name: Matt Flowers
  • Age: 26
  • Occupation: Programmer
  • Location: Ellwood City, PA

I drink a lot of coffee, write a lot of code, and play a lot of video games. As a result, I've created this site to chronicle my caffeine-fueled adventures through the world of software.

For work, I am a Programmer/Systems Analyst at a large steel manufacturing company. Lately, I've also been getting involved in some new Web endeavors (more on that later). During those rare moments when the computer is off, I like playing the drums, watching b-movies, eating chinese food, and watersports (skiing, wakeboarding, etc).

Oh yeah, I also invented the Internet.

Errornix.com?

Yeah, this site used to be called errornix.com, but I changed it. The site first began as a project in a Web Application Development class. At the time, the name didn't matter because it was just for assignments. I ended up calling it errornix.com because that's what I commonly use as my handle online. When the class was over and I decided to do something with the site, I just didn't care to change the name.

As for what it means... well... that's sort of evolved over time. Initially the name was one part Unix reference, one part Zelda joke, and one part generic term for formatting a harddrive. Gradually though, I've come to equate the term with solving a problem within a piece of software - "nixing the error" if you will.

It's weird, I know.

What You'll Find Here

First and foremost, there's the Blog, which is mostly comprised of my rants about software. Unlike most bloggers, I don't have any kind of scheduled blogging time. Whenever I come across something, or think of something that I believe is worth writing about, that is when I update the Blog.

I also have a couple of projects that I'm working on. For the past few years, I've been developing my own Zelda game. You can find out what that's all about on the Memories of Hyrule page. I'm also currently working on something called Project X. I've yet to reveal what it is, though. I just have the page there as a teaser.

Now you can't have a website without a Links section, right? My Links page is simply a list of things that I've found online and thought were interesting. The Links page is NOT a blogroll. Personally, I don't like the idea of blogrolls, nor do I exchange links with anyone. I just feel that blogrolls and link exchanges are lame ways of artificially increasing your PageRank.

RSS Feeds

I should probably point out that my Blog is syndicated via RSS. There is also a feed available for My Twitter Updates. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, read this. If you do know what I'm talking about, then what are you waiting for? Subscribe now!
